I believe that peace is possible. I also believe that the war in Iraq is wrong. We had no right to pre-emptively invade a sovereign nation on the pretext that they were a danger to the American people, which they never were. There were no weapons of mass destruction, no terrorist cells before we invaded. The Bush administration concocted a whole panoply of lies to convince us that we should be there. Not only did he lie before the invasion, but has continued to lie, obfuscate and hide behind executive privilege and secrecy. With each passing day, more lies have been revealed. What he has done also defies our constitution. By invading Iraq, we have left a power vacuum in the region that is being filled by the very terrorists Bush fears. The Bush administration and the war machine he commanded are not "liberators", but oil hungry invaders and occupiers. Why were the oil fields protected, but the museum in Baghdad that was full of priceless antiquities left to looters?

The only way to bring peace to the region is to bring in United Nations peacekeepers and for our troops to leave. This must happen as soon as possible. For our country, this also meant getting rid of the cause of the problem: George W. Bush and his cronies. He never had a real plan and his only real motive was to show his Daddy what he can do and to make Iraq an easier place to get oil. Hopefully President Obama will do a better job.
